Give Thanks With a Greatful Heart...

It's truly time for Thanksgiving! A lot of times we just skip over Thanksgiving and head right into Christmas after Halloween. We all need to stop and remember what it's really all about. Especially in this day and time. If nothing else, we need to stop and thank God for all the things He's done for us. Despite the bad things going on, we can ALWAYS see the good things that God has done for us through the storms. So, just remember to stop and give thanks to Him this next week.

I'm already getting in the holiday giving spirit! God has blessed me so much in my life, I just wish I had enough money to give to everyone what I really want to give them! But funds are limited, so, the best I can give is the gift of time. Time spent with loved ones and friends, to me, is better than gifts wrapped in shiny paper! Although I LOVE to get gifts! hehe But truthfully, the gift of love and spending time with family is something you can treasure forever! Clothes fade, things break, but relationships and family memories will always be there.

I can't wait for the day after Thanksgiving though! I LOVE TO SHOP!!!! Just to be in the hustle and bustle of all the stores and sales puts me in the Christmas spirit!! I just love it! It's a tradition for my mom and me to go early in the morning to the FIRST store that's open at 3:00 am and shop ALL DAY! We don't necessarily buy a whole lot... well, I TRY not to anyway, but it's just so much fun! :) Sorry, just a girl thing! hehe Of course, we drag my dad along... only because we need someone to carry all of our bags back to the car! lol He's such a great sport! lol Matt has told me that I could go shopping all day if I wanted, just don't ask him to drag along with us. lol He's not a shopper at all! He even hates to go to Walmart for just a few items! Drives me crazy! But oh well. He's a man! lol

We have our first Thanksgiving dinner of the year with my dad's family this Sunday. I can't wait! SOO much good food! That's another reason why I LOVE Thanksgiving! lol Man, my family can cook! I will try to get some pics and post them next week.

If I don't post before Thanksgiving, have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING and remember to give thanks to our Lord and Savior for all He's done for us!

Wow! What a weekend!

Well, it's Monday again! And our trip is over. But the memories will last forever! I had such a great time. Just getting away for the weekend makes a huge difference! Here's some pics of our vacation. A place called The Pink Palace. It's like three museums in one! It was very informative, but VERY fun!

Skeleton of a Rattlesnake

This is how a General Store looked back in the old days

The front of the first Piggly Wiggly

The first Piggly Wiggly forced you to go up and down eack aisle!

A view of what a kitchen looked like in the mid 50's to early 60's

The 60's... check out how they did perms! lol And the "weight loss" Method. Matt said it looked like they would come away with internal injuries! ;op

The Pink Palace is in a mansion... this is the foyer

Saturday evening/night, we walked Beale Street. It was so much fun! There was so many different cultures there! It was unbelievable! It was like a small version of New Orleans. It was great! Music on every corner, and it was so alive! WOW!
This was a building front that was still standing and being held up by steele beams. Behind it was a club/bar (which was $10.00 to get in just to sit and listen to the music... when you can hear it outside for free.. hmm... no brainer! lol)
This is a sidewalk look at the building front

Inside the building front (which you can see from the sidewalk), this was an interesting piece of .... art? lol Goats live here! Very odd place for goats, but hey! They gotta live somewhere!

Me and my honey! We had a blast listening to the free entertainment and watching the DRUNK people dance the night away!

Beale Street is so beautiful at night!

Finally, we were headed home! ;0p

I don't know why this caught me so funny, but as we were driving to Memphis Friday evening/night, we drove past this trailor (in the dark) at an exit that had nothing on it. It was sitting right the road and it was lit up like daylight! I don't think you can tell what it says from this pic, but it has signs all over it saying "$5.00 pshycic reading"! I laughed so hard for about 2 miles! lol So, coming home, I HAD to take a pic of it! It's lost some of it's funniness now, but man, was it funny to me at the time! One of those Had to be there kind of things! lol

I guess it was the combination of 1.) it being out in the middle of nowhere, 2.) it being opened late at night, and 3.) it just really topped the redneck list! YEP! That's what made it so funny!

Hope you enjoyed the little walk through of our trip! It really was a blast!
